OVERVIEW

The concept of the twelve-days (12) Art and Photography tour to Paris, France is designed to provide you with an exciting alternative to traditional tour visits. This tour has been running annually for the past 20 years. In July 2020 will mark the 21th anniversary that these tours have been running. The tour examines the principal ideas and movements of art in France from around 1870 to the beginning of the 20th Century. We will be surveying the precursors of Impressionism such as Manet and Courbet and then the movement itself examining works and locations of artists such as Monet, Renoir, Degas, Morisot, Cassatt, Caillebotte and Pissarro in Paris.

Initially, we will focus on the Impressionist collections housed in the Orsay and the L’Orangerie museums and then follow our findings by actually going to the exact locations where these artists were inspired to paint those great masterpieces. The tour will go on daily sketching, painting and photographic journeys from Paris to the Seine Valley visiting towns such as Auvers-sur-Oise and Giverny. As we are based in the Montmartre district, we will also survey other artists such as Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Seurat and later Picasso who lived and painted in the Montmartre district.

Also, being in one of the most exciting cities of the world we cannot leave Paris without visiting some of its monuments and other museums such as the Pompidou Centre, Rodin, Picasso and the Grand Louvre. We will also seek some of the feature film locations and visit areas where great writers, musicians and performers from the Luminous years – such as James Joyce, Ernest Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, Igor Stravinsky and Josephine Baker lived, performed or frequented the Cafes.

Land content costs includes 13 nights twin-shared apartment accommodation based in Montmartre, weekly travel pass on Metro/RER and 2 country destination train journeys via RER/SNCF. If twin-share accommodation is not available, or you prefer to have ‘Single’ occupancy apartment, there will be an additional supplementary charge of AUD$950 on top of the land content cost.

LAND CONTENT COST: AUD$4950 plus GST.

NB: Land Content cost does not include airfares, International travel insurance, transfers to and from CDG airport, meals, museum admissions or activities and transportation on free days.
